Overview:
India Smartphone Market is estimated to decline by 9% in 2020 as due to COVID-19 pandemic. Due to rising number of positive COVID-19 cases in India, government enforced lockdown in last week of March till 3rd May which is now extended to 17th May with some relaxations for green and orange zones. Q1 was slightly impacted but Q2 will be the worst hit as there was 'zero' shipment in April due to lockdown. Online Channel share is expected to increase due to COVID-19 as consumers will shift to online buying.
Samsung – Samsung will be impacted the most as the brand has the highest number of offline retail points (200,000 points). Chinese players including Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO and realme will also be impacted though Xiaomi and realme will be impacted less than offline heavy brands due to high penetration in online channels.
