India’s smartphone shipments declined in May 2021. India battled a virulent second wave during April and June. Major states and regions which are big smartphone markets were closed. Offline channels were impacted the most and offline heavy brands witnessed a decline in shipments.
The handset manufacturing also declined due to this decline in demand. Also, the component shortage issue is plaguing some of the brands due to which the production has been down. However, as per our latest retail surveys, we are witnessing a pent-up demand in the market, especially in the online channels. We believe the market will return to normal by the third week of June.
