Sep 30, 2022 | Author : Prachir Singh and Monika Sharma

Overview:

India’s smartphone shipments grew 14% MoM due to increased consumer demand, especially in the offline channels. The improved consumer demand due to multiple sales events such as Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan and Ganesh Chaturthi led to this growth. However, there was a slight decline YoY due to high pent-up demand in 2021 after the second COVID-19 wave.

Chinese brands led the Indian smartphone market in Aug 2022, capturing 72% share. However, the share declined in Jul as compared to previous months due to high competition from Samsung.

Online Channels share was increased to 52% in Aug 2022 driven by Xiaomi, Samsung, realme and Poco. We may see channel fill ahead of the festive season by the brands. Online share expected to reach ~55% in September 2022. However, post that, we believe offline share will be going to increase.
