Overview:
AI-based emotion recognition (ER) technologies have become more widespread in China and are beginning to replace traditional methods across some applications. Similar to the west, the key methods employed by ER are: facial expression decoding, voice pattern analysis, body movement analysis, brainwave measurement, text interpretation and multi-modal analysis.
Interestingly, with less strict regulations on personal biometric data privacy than the US, we are seeing slightly different industry growth trends China, with customer service, healthcare/well-being and VPA (chatbots) seeing the most initial takeup.
