Overview:
Global smartphone sales (sell-through) in August grew marginally month on month (MoM). Sales in North America grew MoM driven by the back-to-school promotions and rose in India helped by the Independence Day offers, which offset declines in other regions. Consumer sentiment in August was dampened by seasonality, inflationary pressures, weak national currencies and geopolitical troubles, especially in Europe, parts of Southeast Asia and Japan.
Global sell-in declined MoM in August. China remained sluggish with many OEMs cutting shipments to help manage inventory levels. LATAM shipments also remained low as OEMs continued to tackle inventory build-up issues. Inventory issues continued easing across regions as OEMs used various measures to manage inventory build-up, such as promotions to drive demand and a reduction in shipment levels.
