Overview:
The US trade ban on Huawei has come as expected. As a result, Huawei is prohibited from buying or selling anything from technology to components from US firms. Not only does Huawei lose access to US technology in ARM-based processors it also can't get software and services from Google for its smartphones. In this report, we provide a detailed assessment of the impact of the trade ban on Huawei's smartphone business. We also provide a forecast of two possible scenarios, one where Huawei complies with the US' requirements and the other where it continues to remain defiant. We also look at other business areas like surveillance cameras and IoT, which will be impacted by recent developments.
