Overview:

In 2019, new premium smartphones will be equipped with a time-of-flight (ToF) sensors in order to strengthen existing camera functions and differentiate themselves from the competition. The ToF sensor is known to show superiority in terms of price and operational efficiency compared with structured light (SL) sensors. The ToF technology matches well with the conditions of OEMs from the perspective of a new specification for premium phones. This short report tracks the penetration of ToF sensors in smartphones as well as providing a forecast for ToF usage.
