Overview:
Over 30 operators have launched 5G services in six months as initial 5G rollout has been faster than 4G. Over 150 smartphones will be commercially available with 5G by end of 2019.
Release 16 and 17 will bring in 5G specification for use-cases beyond smartphones while Release 15 brought deployment of 5G in smartphones. Release 16 and 17 focusing on access to unlicensed bands, mobility enhancements, vehicle to everything (V2X), industrial IoT (IIoT) and uRLLC enhancements.
