The Union Budget of India for 2021-22 was announced on February 1, 2021. This budget is expected to set the ball rolling for India’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery. For the technology and digital sectors, significant announcements included extension of tax holidays for start-ups, imposition of import duties on mobile phone and charger components to enhance local value-addition, and review of 400 customs duty exemptions, including those on the mobile devices segment.
