Overview:
The technology sector has been the main winner during the COVID-19 pandemic, with revenue generation, customer demand and market capitalization all hitting unprecedented levels for many large companies. Armed with enormous financial and technological resources, large companies are becoming hungrier to spread their areas of expertise across various fronts, and one of the methods is through vertical mergers. The past few years have also seen tectonic shifts in domestic and international politics. The differing outcomes of the three proposed mergers discussed in this report reflect this changing landscape.
