Overview:
•Sell through was better in September as sales in India picked up sharply during the Pre-Diwali festival season. The US market was also up after a slow July and August. Japan also entered an active promotion season as the iPhone has started to sell.
•However, China and Europe were down during September compared to the previous month. Sell-in also rose slightly in September mostly due to the iPhone and Galaxy Note 8. Inventory levels are rising for Chinese brands as the Chinese market is continuously disappointing compared to last year.
•Our analysts attended 5G Asia. There was evidence that 5G is happening, led by significant developments, successful trials by key operators SK Telecom, Korea Telecom, NTT Docomo and 65 other operators with help from infrastructure vendors such as ZTE, Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia.
